#BlackGirlMagic Shoot

I've always grown up around strong Black women; they've been my family, my teachers and my leaders. As I grow older in society I become more conscious of how disrespected and mistreated Black women are. We exoticize them, devalue and take advantage of the Black woman's place in society.

One night I had a dream about this moment, I really did. I dreamed that my friend, Kia (who's pictured) and I were doing a shoot about the magic of Black women. She had a crown, scepter and light all around her. When I woke up I knew that I had to find a way to make this dream become a reality to some capacity. So I enlisted of the help of my friend, Meg, to bring this to life. I wanted to capture the essence of a Black woman; her might, her magic, her beauty, her sensuality, her naturalism and her love. To the Black Queens, know that some of us do see you. I hope that maybe you might be able to see yourself too.
